Veervaar Vrat Katha Overview
Vrat Katha of Thursday is a very important story to be recited on the day of Thursday fasting, reading and reciting which cuts off various kinds of troubles in a person’s life.
Due to the effect of Thursday fast, not only the problems in your daily life go away, but the obstacles in married life also go away. The unmarried people who are facing difficulties one after the other in getting married must also observe this fast regularly and must also read the story of Thursday’s fast.
Story of Veervaar vrat:
A majestic and charitable king used to rule in India. He always helped the poor and Brahmins. His queen did not like this thing, she neither donated to the poor, nor worshiped God and refused to donate to the king as well.
One day the king had gone to the forest for hunting, while the queen was alone in the palace. At the same time Brihaspati Dev went to the king’s palace in the guise of a monk for alms and begged for alms, the queen refused to give alms and said: Oh sage Maharaj, I am fed up with charity. My husband keeps on looting all the money. I wish that our wealth gets destroyed, then neither the bamboo will remain nor the flute will play.
The monk said: Goddess, you are very strange. Everyone wants money and children. Son and Lakshmi should also be in the house of a sinner. If you have more money then give food to the hungry, make drinking water for the thirsty, open hospices for the travelers. Those poor who cannot marry their unmarried girls, get them married. There are many other such works by doing which your fame will spread in the world and hereafter. But the preaching had no effect on the queen. She said: Maharaj, don’t explain anything to me. I don’t want such wealth that I distribute everywhere.
The monk replied, if you have such a wish, then amen! You should do such a thing that on Thursday you wash your head with yellow soil, wash your head with yellow soil and wash your clothes, by doing this all your wealth will be destroyed. Having said this, that monk disappeared from there. According to the monk, only three Thursdays were spent by the queen while fulfilling the said things, that all her wealth and property were destroyed. The king’s family started craving for food.
Then one day the king said to the queen that O queen, you stay here, I go to another country, because everyone here knows me. That’s why I can’t do any small work. Having said this, the king went abroad. There he would cut wood from the forest and sell it in the city. In this way he started spending his life. Here, as soon as the king went abroad, the queen and the maidservant started feeling sad.
Once the queen and the maidservant had to go without food for seven days, the queen said to her maidservant: O maidservant! My sister lives in a nearby town.
She is very rich. You go to him and bring something, so that you can survive a little. The maid went to the queen’s sister. That day was Thursday and the queen’s sister was listening to the story of Thursday fast at that time. The maid gave her queen’s message to the queen’s sister, but the queen’s elder sister did not respond. When the maid did not get any answer from the queen’s sister, she became very sad and got angry. The maid came back and told the whole thing to the queen. Hearing this, the queen cursed her fate.
On the other hand, the queen’s sister thought that my sister’s maid had come, but I did not speak to her, she must have been very sad because of this.
After listening to the story and finishing the worship, she came to her sister’s house and said: O sister! I was fasting on Thursday. Your maid came to my house, but till the story is told, he neither gets up nor speaks, so I did not speak. Tell me why did the maid go?
The queen said: Sister, what should I hide from you, we did not even have grains to eat in our house. The queen’s eyes filled with tears while saying this.
She narrated in detail to her sister about being hungry for the last seven days along with the maid.
Queen’s sister said: Look sister! Lord Jupiter fulfills everyone’s wishes. Look, maybe you have grains in your house.
At first the queen did not believe, but on the insistence of her sister, she sent her maid inside, and she really found a pot full of grains. The maid was very surprised to see this. The maid started saying to the queen: O queen!
When we do not get food, we do fast, so why not ask them the method of fasting and story, so that we too can fast. Then the queen asked her sister about Thursday’s worship method.
His sister said, worship Lord Vishnu in banana root with gram dal and dry grapes on Thursday’s fast and light a lamp, listen to the fasting story and eat only yellow food. Jupiter is pleased with this. The queen’s sister returned to her home after telling the method of fasting and worship.
When Thursday came after seven days, the queen and the maid kept a fast. Went to the stable and brought gram and jaggery. Then he worshiped the banana root and recited the story of Lord Vishnu and performed aarti. Now both were very sad about where the yellow food came from. Since he had observed a fast, Lord Brihaspati was pleased with him.
That’s why he took the form of an ordinary person and gave beautiful yellow food in two plates to the maid. The maid was happy after getting the food and then took the food along with the queen. After that they all started fasting and worshiping on Thursdays. By the grace of Lord Brihaspati, wealth came to her again, but the queen again started laziness as before. Then the maid said: Look queen! Earlier also you used to be lazy like this, you used to have difficulty in keeping money, due to this all the money was destroyed and now when you have got money by the grace of Lord Brihaspati, then again you feel lazy.
Explaining to the queen, the maid says that we have got this money after a lot of trouble, so we should do charity, feed hungry people, and spend the money in auspicious works, which will increase the fame of your family. Heaven will be attained and fathers will be happy. After listening to the maid, the queen started spending her money in auspicious works, due to which her fame started spreading in the whole city.
