UPSC Syllabus 2023 Overview

The Union Public Service Commission, commonly abbreviated as UPSC, is India’s premier central recruitment agency for recruitment of all the Group ‘A’ officers under Government of India. The candidate must hold a graduation degree from a government-recognized university. In their final year or awaiting results, candidates are also eligible to appear for UPSC preliminary Examination.

Paper I : General Studies I-(200 Marks) Duration : Two Hours:

• Current events of national and international importance.
• History of India and Indian National Movement.
• Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
• Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
• Economic and Social Development-Sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demography, social sector initiatives etc.
• General issues on environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate change
• general Science

Paper II : General Studies II (CSAT)- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours:

• understand interpersonal skills including communication skills
• Logical Reasoning & Analytical Ability
• decision making and problem solving
• general mental ability
• Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level)

UPSC Syllabus 2023 Mains Exam:

• The objective of the mains examination is to assess the overall intellectual traits and depth of understanding of the candidates rather than just the extent of their information and memory.
• The nature and standard of questions in the General Studies paper (Paper II to Paper V) will be such that a well educated person will be able to answer them without any special study. The syllabus for the optional subject paper (Paper VI and Paper VII) for the examination broadly covers the Honors degree level.

Papers on Indian Languages ​​(Paper A) and English (Paper B):

The object of the paper is to test the candidate’s ability to read and understand serious prose, and to express his ideas clearly and correctly in the English and Indian languages ​​concerned is.
