Satyanarayana Vratam Overview
In the north-east corner of the house, a place should be cleaned, made with flour, rice flour and colored powder, and a pita should be placed for the foundation of the deity. The pita should not be too high or too deep. Ashtadala padma is generally placed. The worshipers should sit facing east. The image or portrait of the deity to be worshiped should be placed on the pedestal. First, make a Ganapati of turmeric (turn the yellow into a triangle shape about an inch in size), put a drop of saffron on it, and put a padapa in a plate, Pour rice on a new piece of cloth and light incense sticks from a betel leaf on it and yellow Ganapati on it. Now arrange the necessary items for the puja.
Story of Satyanarayana Vratam :
Satyanarayana Swamy Vrat can be performed on any auspicious day in the months of Vaisakh, Magha and Kartika. Especially those who are upset are very good and excellent. Satyanarayana Swamy Vrat can be performed once a month or once a year. At midday the materials required for Satyanarayana Swamy Vrat should be arranged. Satyanarayanaswamy should be fasted in the evening i.e. when the night is beginning. In today’s days, everyone does it in the morning because they can’t fast, but it is best to do puja in the evening.
Waking up early in the morning, doing rituals, taking bath in the evenings, thinking of the Lord in his mind, ‘O God, God! Sri Satyanarayana Swamy! I am performing your Vrata with devotion seeking your grace’. A clean place should be smeared with gomya, sprinkled with five different colors, and a new white cloth should be spread over it. Pour rice on the cloth, place the kalash in the middle and put a new cloth (piece of jacket) on it. Satyanarayana Swamy’s image or portrait should be placed on that cloth. Brahmadi Panchal Oka rulers, Navagrahas and Ashtadikpalakas should be invoked and worshiped in Swami Vari Mandapam. Later Satyanarayana swamy should be invoked and worshiped in the Kalash. First make Ganapati with turmeric.

It is said that Vratas performed at Devalayanana, Natitirana, Goshala and Tulsivanam are fruitful.
After preparing the following vrata materials, a white cloth should be spread on the ground, rice should be poured on it, a kalash with mango leaves and coconut in the middle should be wrapped in a rakish cloth and placed in the middle.
Ganesha should be prepared with turmeric and placed in betel leaves and rice in the east direction.
After Vinayaka Puja, rice should be poured on betel leaves and Satyanarayan should be placed in any of the metal idols like gold, silver, copper and three or five coconuts should be mixed with vakkas, flowers and axes on the Navagraha Mandapam.
Pimmata Satyanarayana Swami should be worshiped and spent time with stories.

Vrata Katha is divided into five parts. After each katha there is a narikela offering ritual.
The story of the first Vrata
Once upon a time Suta Maharshi who visited Naimisaranya was asked by the monks of Shaunakadi “Mahanubhava.. by what means can people realize their desires and attain salvation?”
Shri Satyanarayana Vrata is the cure for all sorrows, this vrata should be performed on any day and after the vrata, Tirdhaprasada should be offered. Mahavishnu told Narada that those who do this vrata will not attain salvation.
So people, sage Suta said that if you do Satyanarayana Vrat, your wishes will be fulfilled. This is the story of the first Vrata.
The story of the second Vrata
There was a poor Brahmin in the town of Kashi. One day that Brahmin was sad because he did not get any alms, Sri Satyanarayana swami saw him and felt sorry for him. An old Brahmin came and asked Nayana what is your problem. Then the old Brahmin said Satyanarayanavrata and disappeared.
The Brahmin determined that he would do this vow tomorrow, and the next day he performed his daily routines and said, “Swami! I will perform your vow with the alms received today” he said and left for alms. He received a special alms for that time. The Brahmin fasted with the alms that he received from Pimmata. Since then that Brahmin performed Satyanarayana Swamy Vrat every month. While that Brahmin was performing a vow on one Ekadashi day, a firewood seller came and saw the whole vow and knew the glory of the vow. He said that he would also do the vow on the next day. With that money, the person who fasted on that day became rich in no time. Due to the merits of Satyanarayana Vrata, the Brahmin and the firewood buyer got salvation. This is the story of the second Vrata.
