Punjab PM Kisan Overview
The objective of PM-Kisan scheme is to meet the financial needs of SMFs (Small and Marginal Farmers) in procurement of various crops, so as to ensure proper crop health and proper yields with anticipated farm income at the end of each crop cycle.
- It will also save them from falling in the clutches of moneylenders to meet such expenses and ensure their continuity in farming activities.
- With an aim to increase the income of Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs), the government has launched a new Central Sector Scheme in the current financial year, which is named “Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan)”.
- SMF landholder farmer family is defined as “a family of husband, wife and minor children who own cultivable land up to 2 hectares as per the land records of the respective State/UT.
