Nath Sampradaya Overview
The Nath sect is a Hindu religious sect of India. The coordination of the traditions of Buddhism, Shaivism and Yoga is visible in this sect that originated in the Middle Ages. It is a cult based on the cultivation method of Hatha Yoga. Shiva is the first teacher and worshiper of this community. Apart from this, there were many gurus in this community, in which Guru Machindranath / Matsyendranath and Guru Gorakhnath are the most famous. The Nath sect was scattered all over the country.Guru Gorakhnath scattered the disintegration of this sect and gathered the yoga teachings of this sect, hence Gorakhnath is considered to be its founder.
Yogi and Jogi are two sides of the same coin in Nath Sampraday, one which is the life of a monk and the other is the life of a householder. Known by the names Sanyasi, Yogi, Jogi, Nath, Avdhoot, Kaul, Kalbeliya, Goswami (Bihar), Upadhyay (in western Uttar Pradesh). The disciples of some of his gurus were also of Muslim, Jain, Sikh and Buddhist religions.

| Kanifnath | 14th-century Siddha, originally from Bengal, who started a separate sub-tradition within the Nath sect |
| Chaurangi Nath | Son of King Devpal of Bengal, famous in the Punjab region in the north-west, a shrine related to him is in Sialkot (now in Pakistan). |
| Charpatinath | Living in Himalayan caves in the Chamba region of Himachal Pradesh, he propounded Avadhoot and explained that one should enhance one’s inner powers as external practices do not make any difference to us. |
| Bhartriharinath | King and scholar of Ujjain who left his kingdom to become a yogi. |
| Gopichandnath | The son of the queen of Bengal who had given up his throne. |
| Ratnath | Siddha of the 13th century, famous in central Nepal and Punjab, respected in both Nath and Sufi sects in northern India |
| Dharma Nath | A 15th-century Siddha, renowned in Gujarat, he established a monastery in the Kutch region, according to legends he made the Kutch region livable. |
