Nagula Chavithi Vratha Katha Overview

The fast of Nagula Chavithi is dedicated to the snake deity. This festival is celebrated as Nag Panchami in many regions. If you also want to get the blessings of Nag Devta, then you must do this fast on the occasion of Nagula Chavithi.

By observing the Nagula Chavithi fast, not only does one get the blessings of Nag Devta, but Lord Bholenath is also pleased by performing this worship with complete rituals. By the grace of Lord Bholenath, there is no fear of premature death in the life of a person and you can get desired results in your life.

Story of Nagula Chavithi:

When King Janmejaya organized the Sarpamedha Yagya for the destruction of the entire snake race, all the snakes and serpents of the world came and started falling in the altar of the Yagya. Then Nagraj Takshak took refuge in Indraloka to protect his life, but due to the influence of the strong mantras of the priests, Indra and other deities along with Takshak also started pulling towards the place of sacrifice. When the gods called upon Brahma to protect them, they asked for the help of ‘Astika’, the son of Mansa Devi (Brahma’s daughter and revered mother of snakes).

Astika was a great scholar and only he could stop this Yagya. Devgan reached Mata Manasa and told her grief to her. Then Astika stopped that yajna according to her mother’s orders and her advice, and protected all the serpents and deities. On the day of Nag Chaturthi, Astika helped the gods.

Mata Mansa had blessed the gods and mankind that whoever worships serpents on this day and listens to this story will get auspicious results. Since then, Nag Chaturthi festival is celebrated on this day. On the day of Nag Chaturthi, women visit the houses and temples, or Bambi, offer milk to the snake gods, and pray for the well being of their family.

Newly married women pray for a healthy and efficient child. However, environmentalists are of the opinion that snakes or snakes do not drink milk, so to show their gratitude, they should be given protection instead of feeding. There is a separate powerful altar for the serpent deities at Srisailam. Devotees come here from far and wide to worship the snake deities to get rid of the inauspicious results of Nag/Sarpa Dosha and Rahu-Ketu Dosha.
