Maa Kalratri Ki Katha:
According to the legend, when Raktabeej defeated all the gods and snatched their kingdom, then all the gods went to Mahadev ji after complaining about the demons. Lord Shiva Shankar asked all the deities who came to him the reason for their coming. Then the deity narrated the atrocities committed by Raktabeej to Trilokinath. Hearing this, Lord Shiva Shankar requested Mata Parvati that, O Goddess, you should immediately kill that demon and give back their royal pleasure to the gods. Raktabeej had a boon that every drop of his blood that fell on the ground would lead to another Raktabeej. When Maa Durga was killing Raktabeej, hundreds of demons were born from the blood of Raktabeej body that fell on the ground. Then Goddess Parvati meditated there. Kalratri was born due to the brilliance of Mother’s sadhana.
Then Mother Parvati requested Kalratri to eat those demons. When the mother killed him, she drank all her blood and did not allow a drop of blood to fall on the ground. That is why in this form of mother, her tongue is red with blood. In this way, Mother Kalika started wearing a garland of shavings around her neck, cutting the throats of Asuras in the battlefield.
