The festival of Lohri is celebrated with great pomp as the harvesting and sowing of crops. On this day people light a fire, sing and dance around it and celebrate. There is a tradition of putting jaggery, sesame, revdi, gajak in the fire and then distributing it among each other.
Popcorn and sesame seeds are also distributed on this day. This festival is celebrated during the harvesting season in Punjab. With these songs, a wave of new energy and happiness runs in the hearts of the people. This festival is celebrated by dancing with songs. In these cultural folk songs, there is description about happy crops etc. Punjabi warrior Dulla Bhati is also remembered through the song.
Lohri Puja Vidhi:
- Before lighting Lohri, where Lohri is established, place the picture of Adishakti in the west direction. Lord Krishna, Adishakti and Agnidev are worshiped on Lohri.
- After this, light a mustard oil lamp in front of them.
- Offer vermilion and belpatra to them.
- Offer sesame laddus to Shri Krishna and Agnidev during the Bhog.
- After this, take dry coconut and put camphor in it.
- You light the fire in Lohri.
- After this, offer sesame seeds, maize and peanuts in it.
- And in the end do the parikrama of Lohri. Parikrama should be 7 or 11.
