Jain Rohini Vrat Katha Overview
Rohini Nakshatra is one of the 27 Nakshatras. This constellation is considered very important in Vedic astrology. After this constellation, this fast is known as Rohini Vrat. Rohini fasting is considered very important and fruitful in Jainism.
According to the scholars of Jainism, this fast purifies the soul of the person and destroys the sins committed by the person unknowingly. Story of Jain Rohini:
According to legend, in ancient times, King Madhava ruled with his queen Lakshmipati in a city named Champapuri. He had 7 sons and 1 daughter named Rohini. Once the king asked the wise man, who would be the bride of my daughter? So he said that your daughter will be married with Ashoka, the prince of Hastinapur. Hearing this, the king organized a swayamvara in which the daughter Rohini put a garland around the neck of Prince Ashok and both of them were married. Once, Shri Charan Muniraj came to the forest of Hastinapur city. The king along with his loved ones went to see them and received the sermon with obeisances.
After this the king asked Muniraj that why is my queen so calm? Then the Guru said that in this city there was a king named Vastupal and he had a friend named Dhanamitra. The foul smell of that wealthy friend was born. Dhanamitra was always worried that who would marry this girl? Dhana Mitra married his friend’s son Shrishen, giving the lure of money, but after suffering from extreme foul smell, he left her in a month and went somewhere. At the same time, when Amritsen came to the city while visiting Muniraj, Dhana Mitra went to worship with his daughter Dungandha and asked Muniraj about the future of the daughter.
He told that King Bhupal used to rule in a town near Girnar mountain. He had a queen named Sindhumathi. One day the king, along with the queen, went for forest sports, so seeing Muniraj on the way, the king asked the queen to go home and make food arrangements for the sage. On the orders of the king, the queen went away, but in anger, she gave the food of bitter tumbi to Muniraj, due to which Muniraj suffered a lot and immediately he gave up his life. When the king came to know about this, he threw the queen out of the city and this sin caused leprosy in the body of the queen. After suffering a lot of pain and sorrow, she died of cruel feelings and went to hell.
Yes, after experiencing endless sorrows, an animal was born in the vagina and then a foul-smelling girl came to your house. Hearing this complete story, Dhanamitra asked- Tell me some fasting and rituals, so that this evil can be removed. Then Swami said- observe Rohini fasting with samkhya darshan, that is, on the day when the constellation named Rohini comes every month, On that day, renounce all the four types of food and spend 16 prahars including religious meditation by going to Shri Jain Chaityalaya, that is, spending time in Samayak, self-study, religious discussion, worship, Abhishek etc. and donate self-shakti.
Thus observe this fast for 5 years and 5 months. Durgandha observed the fast with reverence and at the end of her life, she died with sannyasa and became a goddess in the first heaven. Coming from there, your Parampariya became the queen. After this, King Ashoka asked about his future, then the lord said – being a Bhil, you had made a harsh prefix on Muniraj, so you died and went to hell and then traveling in many Kuyonis were born in the house of a merchant, so very disgusting. Found the body, then you fasted Rohini by the instruction of Muniraj. As a result, being born in the heavens, a king named Ashoka was born here. In this way King Ashoka and Queen Rohini attained salvation by enjoying the heavenly pleasures under the influence of Rohini fasting.
Rohini Vrat Puja Vidhi:
