Hartalika Teej Vrat Katha Overview
Hartalika Teej is a holy festival and this year Hartalika Teej falls on Tuesday, August 11. On this day, married women observe Nirja fast for the long life of their husbands and then this fast is broken on the next day after the pooja.
Although there are four Teejs in a year, Hartalika Teej is considered the most important among them all. This husband is followed by unmarried girls to get a good husband.
A devotee of this fast has to abstain from sleep, for which he has to stay awake at night with bhajan kirtan. After taking bath in the morning, with faith and devotion, a worthy married woman should donate ornaments, clothes, food, fruits, sweetmeats and ornaments as much as she can.
Hartalika Teej Vrat Katha:
On which day Shankar Parvati was sitting on Mount Kailas. Parvati asked Shankara, Maharaj, which is the best of all vows? Tell me if there is a vow that labor is little and fruit is much. Then Shankara said, Haritalika is the best of all, just as the moon is the best among the constellations, the sun is the best among the planets, Brahman is the best among the four varnas, Vishnu is the best among the gods, and the Ganges is the best among the rivers.
