Govardhan Puja Overview
Govardhan Lord is worshiped on the second day of Diwali. According to the scriptures, Pratipada on the second day of the new moon in the month of Kartik has been told the importance of Govardhan Puja. This time Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on 5th November i.e. today.
Lord Krishna is worshiped on the day of Govardhan Puja, as well as there has been a tradition of worshiping him by making Govardhan Dev from cow dung. Annakut/Govardhan Puja started from Dwapar Yuga after the incarnation of Lord Krishna.
This is the main festival of Brajwasis. On this day, various types of food items are offered to the Lord in the temples. When Shri Krishna came to know about the worship of Indra Dev, he told all the residents of Brij that you should worship Govardhan Parvat instead of worshiping Indra Dev. Because under the canopy of this mountain all the Brij residents are able to live their life happily.
