Constitution of School Management Committee Overview

According to Section-21 of the Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education Act, 2009 and Rule 3 and 4 of the State Rules, 2011, the School Management Committee (SMC) has been constituted to increase community participation and ownership in the school. Is . The School Management Committee has two parts, the General Body and the Executive Committee.

The parents/guardians of each student studying in the school, all the teachers, all the people’s representatives living in the concerned work area and the remaining members elected/nominated in the executive committee of the committee are present in the general assembly. All the members of the General Assembly i.e. the parents of each child and all the people’s representatives of that area are the members of the SMC.

Members of the General Assembly:

• Parents or guardians of each student / child studying in the concerned school (guardian in case both mother and father are not alive)
• Every teacher / counselor of the concerned school.
• District Head / Pradhan / Sarpanch / Municipality President residing in the concerned working area.
• All Zilla Parishad members, Municipal Councillors/Panchayat Samiti members/Ward Panchs residing in the concerned working area.
• Elected / nominated remaining members of the executive committee of the committee who are not included in the above.
